SEATTLE, Wash. —
Seattle teachers have voted to accept their tentative contract, and passed a no-confidence vote on Superitendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson.
The contract covers the school years 2010-2011 through 2012-2013.
"I am so pleased that our collaboration with teachers has us so close to reaching agreement on a new contract," said Goodloe-Johnson. "This agreement strengthens the excellent collaborative work of teachers and administrators to create a teacher support system that will benefit all of our children."
The teachers union says the three year deal includes compensation, class size adjustments, and changes to the evaluation process among other things. Details on the tentative contract have not been released yet.
Teachers voted on the contract Thursday. Once the agreement is ratified by teachers, the school board will then vote on the final agreement.
Classes for Seattle Public Schools are scheduled to start Sept. 8.
