Seattle Woman Gets 5 Years, $7M Fine In UW Horticulture Arson

A 33-year-old Seattle woman was sentenced Friday to five years in prison and more than $7 million in restitution in connection with the 2001 firebombing of the University of Washington Center for Urban Horticulture.

Jennifer Kolar pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit arson, arson and attempted arson in the case.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Kolar was part of a group calling itself "The Family," responsible for a string of arsons and destructive crimes across the western United States claimed by the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) and Animal Liberation Front (ALF).

Kolar testified against Briana Waters, who was convicted arson in the case. Waters was sentenced last month to six years in prison.
