PUYALLUP, Wash. —
The vigil in Puyallup took place less than 24 hours after the body of 16-year old Kimberly "Kimmie" Daily was found in the woods a half mile from her South Hill home.
Friends and neighbors came to comfort Cecil Daily and remember his 16 year old daughter most people knew as Kimmie. She disappeared Tuesday, Aug. 17 after leaving one friend’s house and on her way to another friend’s home.
"She played for about an hour-and-a-half and then she left. And she said she was going to another little friend's house and of course we all know the end. She didn't make it," said Stacy Hill, a family friend.
Neighbors and friends were not the only ones who attended the vigil to offer their support. The mother of missing 11-year-old Lindsey Baum was there to comfort the Daily family.
"I just wanted him to know that I'm here. That's all," said Melissa Baum, whose own daughter Lindsey has been missing from her McCleary home for more than a year.
Another parent with a missing daughter lent his sound system for use at the vigil. Chuck Cox’s daughter, 28-year-old Susan Powell, disappeared from her Utah home last winter.
The suspect in Kimmie Daily’s murder, 18-year-old Tyler Savage, appeared in court Tuesday afternoon and pleaded not guilty to aggravated first-degree murder.
