Stevens Pass opened earlier than expected and some people spent their Thursday at the resort.

About 2 to 3 feet of snow was dumped on Stevens Pass after a serious of storms, which opened the resort on Tuesday. Many more opened on Wednesday.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Lee Stoll spoke with skiers who were worried that there would not be enough snow.

“I didn’t think they were going to open, but a great storm came in,” said skier Mike Quinn.

Quinn has been skiing at Stevens Pass for more than 40 years and has been a tradition with his son Shane.

“One of the best memories we had was skiing on Thanksgiving early in the morning and then getting back home before anybody noticed we were gone,” said Shane Quinn.

Along with skiers, snowboarders spent their Thanksgiving at Stevens Pass.

“I thought it was going to be another late season like it was last year,” said snowboarder Anthony Hulit.

“I was getting talked to by a guy who’s like my dad, and he said, ‘I think you should stay with the family and get a good dinner.’ I was like, ‘You know, I can’t miss out on going snowboarding,’” said another snowboarder Michael Spieker.

A spokesperson at Stevens Pass told KIRO 7 that they plan to open two to three more chair lifts Friday, and a full opening will depend on what falls over the next few weeks.
