Slain ambassador's sister is Seattle doctor

SEATTLE —

The sister of the Libyan Ambassador who was killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi is doctor in Seattle.

Dr. Anne Stevens is the head of the Rheumatology Department at Seattle Children's hospital.

The hospital released a statement on behalf of Dr. Stevens:

"Dr. Anne Stevens is deeply saddened by the tragic death of her brother, U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens. She and her family request that you respect their privacy at this time."

Chris Stevens is the first U.S. ambassador to be killed in an attack since 1979, when Ambassador Adolph Dubs was killed in Afghanistan.
