An autopsy was performed on 28-year-old Tara Pitts Thursday.

Medical investigator Ryann Thill said that it does not take long to drown a person in a bathtub, probably a minute or more.

Meanwhile, Sgt. James Kevin Pitts, 31, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, appeared in Pierce County Superior Court Thursday and was charged with second-degree murder. He entered a not guilty plea. He turned himself in Wednesday.

His family says Pitts changed during his recent duty in Iraq where he drove heavy equipment. His father told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News he blames President Bush for the death of his daughter-in-law.

Brother Joshua Pitts says James Pitts apparently had an affair while in Iraq and the wife reported the affair to her husband's unit commander.

Tara Pitts had obtained a temporary restraining order against her husband earlier this month.

The couple has a 9-year-old son who is now in the care of relatives.
