Sonar Ship Finds What May Be Sunken Plane

FREEMAN ISLAND STATE PARK, Wash. —

A Canadian sonar ship continued trying to locate a sunken plane that crashed north of Orcas Island, looking for a nine-year-old girl missing since the crash.

The ship's equipment spotted what could be the plane early Tuesday, but crews planned to send a remote sensor into the water to get a better look.

The girl's twin sister and parents were rescued in the crash of the Piper P28-181 Saturday.

The four-seater, single-engine plane was heard sputtering before it hit the water near Freeman Island, a small island one-quarter mile off the northwestern coast of Orcas.
