Western Washington was hit by a spring storm late afternoon on Friday, which left many without power and trees fallen on homes.

According to Seattle City Light, 605 customers were without power and the Snohomish Public Utility District had at least 100.

Winds blew a tree down on top of a home in a newly-built neighborhood near Snohomish County. The residents inside the home told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Gary Horcher that they moved in one month ago.

Derek Meek, a neighbor of the destroyed home, told KIRO 7 one of the residents heard branches slapping the roof.

“They described it as thinking there was a hurricane coming in,” Meek said.  “They’re looking out back right then, and they started seeing some branches coming down. They hear it start hitting the house, and they duck away from their kitchen.”

Meek took pictures inside of the newly decorated home of the damage that was done.

“The tree just right down through the master bedroom and all the way into the kitchen,” said Meek. “You know, you have your kitchen island right about here; that’s where the tree stopped.”

A contractor told KIRO 7 the house will have to be rebuilt from the ground up.

In other areas of Snohomish County, three trees were brought down by the storm; one by lighting and two by wind.

Lightning was seen in Renton and Enumclaw. KIRO 7 Stormtracker Billy Griffin sent footage of a lightning flash that cracked a tree.

A Lake Forest Park resident sent KIRO 7 photos of trees that took down a telephone pole at Northeast 163^rd and 32^nd Avenue Northeast. The wires were dangling in other yards.

A resident in Bothell said rough winds made a tree fall and hit the corner of the house on 228^th and 15^th Avenue. There wasn’t damage inside the home but the homeowner lost power.

In Kirkland, the storm brought power lines down and blocked Northeast 110^th Place.
