State Republicans Hope Ballot Recount Lawsuit Will Be Heard Sunday

SEATTLE —

State Republicans are hoping to get a hearing

Sunday in a lawsuit the party filed trying to keep King County from

including certain ballots in the recount of the tightly contested

governor's race.

The party sued in federal court Saturday, seeking

a restraining order barring the hand-counting of ballots rejected

by voting machines. A statewide recount began Saturday morning, prompted

by Republican Dino Rossi's narrow margin of victory: 261 votes.
