SEATTLE —

A "suspicious letter" was sent to Sen. Patty Murray's office in Seattle on Wednesday, representatives at Murray's office said.

Hazmat crews determined a powdery substance inside was a harmless mixture of corn starch and dry instant mashed potato mixture.

CBS News had reported earlier Wednesday that a handful of lawmakers had received threatening letters containing a white powdery substance at their district offices. That substance was found to be harmless. There is currently no evidence that those letters are connected to the one sent to Seattle's Federal Building.

We will update this page as more information becomes available.
