Suspicious Person Spotted Near Maple Valley Schools

MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. —

Two schools in the Tahoma School District were in lockdown Tuesday afternoon after students said they saw a suspicious man behind the school, said district spokesperson Kevin Patterson.

Shadow Lake Elementary and Cedar River Middle School were in lockdown beginning around 3:25 p.m. and it was lifted shortly before 5 p.m.

Patterson said students reported seeing a man dressed in black in the woods behind the school and they believe he was carrying a pistol or handgun.

Police searched the area, but weren’t able to find anyone.

Parents were able to pick up their children around 5 p.m.
