SEATTLE —

Divers using sonar equipment recovered the bodies of two drowning victims near Yarrow Point late Wednesday night, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

Authorities said a 37-year-old woman, a 34-year-old man and an 18-year-old man who were riding in a 19-foot boat jumped into Lake Washington to cool off.

The woman had some trouble staying afloat and began to panic, authorities said, and the 34-year-old tried to help. Neither was wearing a life jacket.

The younger man swam back to the boat and tried to throw life jackets to the two swimmers, but strong winds blew the life jackets away from them.

The 18-year-old saw the two swimmers go underwater and called for help.

Members of the King County Dive Team, the Mercer Island Dive Team, Seattle police and the sheriff's office helicopter searched for the missing swimmers for more than four hours.
