Target Of Alleged Stalker Speaks Out

SEATTLE —

A suspected stalker was being held in jail on $250,000 bail after he allegedly shot the man who gave his ex-girlfriend a ride to work in Bothell this week.

While Curtis Graham awaits formal charges, his ex-girlfriend spoke to KIRO 7 Eyewitness News, saying the attack was just a matter of time.

She said she's telling her side of the story to warn other women to do what she did and leave what she calls a violent relationship.

"I was frightened to even go to the store," the 33-year-old woman said in an interview with KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Reporter Amy Clancy.

She said she's lived in fear ever since breaking up with her boyfriend, 39-year-old Curtis Graham, late last year.

"He made his promise that he was going to hurt me," she said.

She said Graham tried to make good on that promise Wednesday when, according to police, Graham brought a gun to the woman's Bothell workplace and opened fire three times, hitting the woman's 45-year old companion once in the stomach.

"I can't even describe the terror that I felt at that point," she said.

It was exactly what she feared would happen after what she said was weeks of escalating violence.

"He slashed my tires once at work," she said. "He slashed my tires again, then throwing the rock through the window, and then the ultimate, the shooting."

The woman said she did everything in her power to keep Graham away, including filing for a restraining order.

She said she's glad Graham is behind bars.

"I feel safer, yeah, as long as he's in there I'll continue to feel safe."

But she said even if Graham is charged and convicted she may have to take even more safety measures.

"The day he gets out of jail, I'm going to make sure that I'm somewhere that he cannot find me."

Curtis Graham is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and because of an outstanding assault warrant.

Formal charges are expected early next week.
