KIRKLAND, Wash. —

A 16-year-old girl and her toddler sister were transported to the hospital after they were struck by a SUV in a crosswalk, said Sgt. Rob Saloum of the Kirkland Police Department.

Saloum said the two girls were walking in a marked crosswalk in the 12600 block of 100 Avenue Northeast in Kirkland. Traffic in the first lane had come to a stop, but as the girls continued across, a vehicle struck both of them.

Both girls were transported to Harborview Medical Center with possible fractures and a head injury, Saloum said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Video from Chopper 7 showed a SUV with a cracked windshield. Video also showed a stroller crushed on the roadside, but it’s not clear if the toddler was in the stroller or pushing it.
