Teenage Girl, Man Fatally Shot In Apparent Murder-Suicide

MAPLE FALLS, Wash. —

The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office said two people were killed and a third person wounded in an apparent murder-suicide shooting at a home near Maple Falls.

Police came to the home around 3:20 a.m. Thursday after a woman called 911 from a neighbor's home saying she was shot, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Officers arrived to find a man and a 14-year-old girl dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The teenager was identified as Felicity Boonstra, who lived with her mother, 33-year-old Rebecca Boonstra, along with the mother's boyfriend, who neighbors identified as Sean D. Wilson.

Neighbors said Wilson is a Whatcom County Planning Commissioner.

Police said Rebecca Boonstra told sheriff's deputies her boyfriend had shot her, her daughter and then himself inside their home. Sheriff Bill Elfo said the boyfriend was likely the shooter in the incident.

Shortly before the shooting, a post by Felicity Boonstra on the social networking site Facebook said the following:

"My parents are yelling and fighting. This is the third night in a row that they've woke me up but tonight, they got me into it and I can't call (because her mother's boyfriend) broke the phone and disconnected the Internet, but I reconnected it. I just want to leave this house and be with my dad."

“It hurts. She didn't deserve to die. She had her whole future ahead of her. Who in their right mind would kill a 14-year-old girl?” said the Felicity’s friend, Geoffrey Pinter.

Rebecca Boonstra was transported to a local hospital for a gunshot wound. Her injuries are not life-threatening and she is in satisfactory condition.

The Sheriff's Department said the couple was in a long-term relationship and that police came to the home for a domestic violence incident in March of 2008.

According to court records, Rebecca Boonstra was accused of assault and brandishing a weapon, but charges were later dismissed.
