Thousands In Seattle Protest US Occupation Of Iraq

Related

SEATTLE —

Thousands of people marched from Seattle's

First Hill neighborhood down to the waterfront Saturday, protesting

the Iraq war on the anniversary of the U-S-led occupation.

With

police on bicycles escorting the protesters, the mood has been a

mix of defiance, melancholy and hope. Protesters did little to hide

their disdain for President Bush, chanting slogans like, "No more

war! No more Bush!"

The crowd included volunteers for Senator John

Kerry, the presumptive Democratic nominee, who were handing out

fliers for the candidate.
