Thousands Spend Christmas In Dark

WOODINVILLE, Wash. —

About 18,000 homes and businesses in North King County were without electricity for at least part of Christmas Day.

In Woodinville, resident Aaron Stevens showed KIRO 7 his snow bank beer cooler and the more than 2 feet of snow that has piled up in his yard.

Stevens said he is anxious for the snow to be gone, especially after the outage.

"There's no gas at gas stations. No propane. We can't go out to the streets. We can't go to work. We're stuck," said Stevens.

More than 150 Puget Sound Energy workers spent Christmas night trying to restore power.

The utility said everyone should have power back on Friday.
