2 Completed Construction Projects Will Ease Eastside Congestion
The city of Bellevue and thousands of commuters are celebrating Tuesday for the completion of two construction projects that will help ease congestion.
One project is the opening of the new bridge that links the east and west sides of Northeast 10th Street. The bridge connects Bellevues shopping district to the medical district and also takes some pressure off of the heavily traveled routes of Northeast 8th and Northeast 4th.
The other project consists of new lanes on Interstate 405 between Southeast 8th Street and 112th Avenue Southeast.
Each of the projects -- while they may relieve congestion, while they may add capacity, they also make our routes safer, so we'd like you to help us celebrate that as well," said Transportation Secretary Paula Hammond.
The two projects were part of a $64 million construction package.
The Washington Department of Transportation also broke ground Tuesday on the next construction project in Bellevue, the $107.5 million I-405 Bellevue Braids project. The project will bring new ramps to the Northeast 8th to state Route-520 interchanges.
