SEATTLE —
The state Route 520 Bridge over Lake Washington will be closed all weekend for construction work between Interstate 405 and Montlake Boulevard.
The bridge closes at 11 p.m. Friday and will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday.
Construction workers will bring in girders for the basic structure of two new overpass lids in Medina, over the bridge.
A similar closure occurred in October, when girders were maneuvered into place. The massive concrete girders are 140 feet long, nearly half the length of a football field.
The DOT expects slowdowns on Interstate 5 and Interstate 90.
The Mercer Street on and off-ramps were to be closed this weekend, but the project is canceled because of weather and the ramps will remain open.
