ANACORTES, Wash. —

A semi-truck hung precariously on a guardrail on the Deception Pass Bridge for hours Friday and was at risk of tumbling into the water 185 feet below before crews pulled it upright.

The truck was leaning on a railing and the cab was supported by a white pickup that the semi hit when winds blew the truck over at 7 a.m. Friday.

State Route 20 was closed in both directions while the truck was hanging.

Fears that high winds of up to 55 mph could blow the semi into the water delayed efforts to upright the vehicle until around 12:30 p.m.

The truck driver was unhurt, but the driver of a car involved in this morning's crash was taken to a hospital to be checked for injuries.

The driver told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News what he saw after his truck tipped onto the guardrail.

"A lot of water. The wind was blowing pretty good. There's a lot of white caps and stuff down there, logs floating around," said Gene Schaible. "[It was some place I didn't want to be."

He scrambled out of the truck through the passenger-side door.

"Undone the seatbelt, got the hell out," he said.
