New Simulations Show Tunnel, Street Planned To Replace Viaduct

SEATTLE —

The Washington State Department of Transportation has released new computer simulations of how the proposed bored tunnel and surface street that will replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct will look.

Officials released two videos, one showing the tunnel and one showing the new Alaskan Way boulevard.

The first video shows a drive-through of the tunnel that starts at the south end and ends after the tunnel's exit onto Aurora Avenue.

The second video shows Alaskan Way, which will connect to Elliott and Western avenues and will provide access to downtown and SR 99.
