Woman Struck, Killed On I-5 In South Seattle

SEATTLE —

A woman walking along Interstate 5 in south Seattle was struck and killed by a truck and a car, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

A semi truck driver told the Washington State Patrol he saw the woman stumbling along the northbound lanes at about 1 a.m. Tuesday and swerved to avoid her, but she was hit by the truck's trailer and then a car.

When state troopers arrived, the woman was dead.

Investigators shut down two northbound lanes of I-5 near Boeing Access Road.

A dark-colored Lexus that was found abandoned on the freeway was impounded while police determine if the car belonged to the victim.

Investigators from the state patrol's commercial division said the driver of the semi truck reacted as quickly as he could.

The woman's identity has not been released.
