MARYSVILLE, Wash. —

A trooper's vehicle was hit Saturday morning while pulling over a driver who was speeding on Interstate 5 north of Marysville, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Police said the trooper was patrolling I-5, and tried to pull over the speeding driver.

As the trooper and driver pulled over to the shoulder lane, the driver got behind the trooper and crashed into the back of the trooper’s car, according to police.

KIRO 7’s Bob Robuck spoke with a Washington State Patrol trooper on the condition of the victim, and the trooper said he was okay.

“He had some minor neck and back pain because he was in a strange position,” said Sgt. Jason Longoria. “He turned getting out of the car when the impact happened.”

The trooper suffered neck and back pain from the crash.

Investigators are still working on this incident.
