BELFAIR, Wash. —

A Washington State Patrol trooper was struck by a vehicle on State Route 300 just west of Belfair on Friday afternoon.

The trooper's injuries were not life-threatening, but he may be taken to a hospital to be examined.

The trooper was directing traffic around an earlier accident when he was struck by a Dodge truck.

The driver of the truck was taken into custody on possible drunken driving charges. Police later ruled out the possibility that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

SR300 near Northshore Road was blocked for the investigation.
