OLYMPIA, Wash. —
A trooper was struck in the arm by a mirror of a passing vehicle early Sunday morning in Olympia, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The incident happened on Pacific Avenue and Pattison Street after 2 a.m.
According to State Patrol, the trooper was exiting his patrol car on a traffic stop when the mirror of Nissan Altima travelling westbound on Pacific Avenue struck the trooper.
The trooper was knocked to the ground and got back into his vehicle to catch the 28-year-old woman driving.
After following the woman, the trooper caught up with her and stopped at Chambers Street and Pacific Avenue.
State Patrol said the woman was driving under the influence, and she was taken into custody.
The trooper was taken to St. Peter’s Hospital to be treated for abrasions, and was later released.
According to State Patrol, the woman is facing charges including driving under the influence.
