LYNWOOD, Wash. —

One person is dead following a 1-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 5 in Lynnwood.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. on the southbound offramp to Interstate 405.

The Washington State Patrol closed the offramp to traffic around 2:14 a.m. for medics to respond.

A spokesperson for the Washington State Patrol said the driver of a red Ford pickup was partially ejected from his truck and died at the scene.

Troopers believe the man was traveling southbound on I-5 to I-405 when he drifted into a grassy area and struck a DOT traffic sign before going down an embankment and flipping his truck several times.

It is not yet known if speed or alcohol may have been contributing factors in the crash.

Because the debris field from the crash stretched about 500 feet, the offramp remained closed until 5:30 a.m. while troopers investigated.

The WSP said the driver is a 42-year-old man from Vancouver, Wash.
