Truck Accident Kills Road Crew Worker

Dump Truck Backs Up, Strikes Woman



NORTH BEND, Wash. —

A woman working on a King County road crew was struck and killed by a dump truck east of North Bend Thursday.

King County sheriff's deputies are investigating the accident that occurred about 8:30 a.m. on Middle Fork Road.

The dump truck was backing up and the driver didn't see the woman.

The driver, who's been with the department since 1990, was so upset he was taken to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

A King County roads manager and a chaplain were heading to the victim's home to notify her next of kin, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

The woman, 40, was a seasonal worker with King County Department of Transportation.
