PISMO BEACH, Calif. —
A Tumwater couple's two-year journey around North America came to a tragic end this weekend when they were killed in Pismo Beach, Calif.
Police said 63-year-old Bruce Mallin and his 59-year-old wife, Marjorie were walking along a street Sunday morning when a car slammed into them.
The couple were on a trip in their RV, and were documenting their trip in a blog called Bruce and Margie's Full Time Journey.
Investigators said the driver careened off Highway 101 and through a fence. The car overturned and struck the couple.
"Two people were killed just innocently walking down the street and a car went out of control and hit them," said Karen Barris, who lives nearby. "It's just tragic."
Police said the 19-year-old driver intentionally crashed in an attempt to kill himself.
He will be charged with manslaughter, police said.
