Two Men Wounded After Gun Battle At Everett Home

EVERETT, Wash. —

Police are investigating a gun battle at an Everett home that left two men wounded early Tuesday morning.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting at about 1 a.m. found a 23-year-old man who had been shot several times at the home in the 600 block of 93rd Street Southwest.

The man told police another man broke into his house and shot him. He said he grabbed the gun during the attack and returned fire as the attacker fled.

A police K-9 found the attacker in bushes across the street from the home, police said. He had been shot.

“The initial indications are that the victim in this case was simply defending himself and the other people in the home when he returned fire toward the suspect,” said Robert Goetz of the Everett Police Department.

Both men were taken to hospitals; the homeowner was treated and released. Police said the other man is in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center.

There were multiple shots fired inside the house, police said. They said they didn't yet know how many times each man was struck.

No one else in the home was injured.

Everett police said they believe the attack was not random, but they don’t know why it happened. They are also still trying to learn if there is any relationship between the two men.
