BELLEVUE, Wash. —

A late-night driving lesson at a Bellevue strip mall ended with a van crashing into a children's clothing store Wednesday.

Police responded to the Lamb's Ear Clothing Boutique at 143 106th Avenue N.E. around 11:40 p.m. and found a van that had crashed through the glass entrance, coming to a rest at the back of the store.

A man in the vehicle told police that he had been teaching his wife to drive and she had most likely hit the gas instead of the brake.

The couple, who own a nearby store in the same shopping plaza, were uninjured. Crews remained on scene into the early morning hours, cleaning up glass and putting up a tarp over the storefront.

Damage estimates to the building were not immediately available.
