Video: Fear And Concern Among Shoppers

The 22-year-old woman, who works at a store in the mall, was approached by a man with a knife last Thursday around 5 p.m. as she was getting into her car. The man forced his way into her car, which was parked in the west parking garage.

After stopping at a red light at NE 8th and Bellevue Way, the victim jumped out of the car and screamed for help, police said.

The suspect ran away and police were unable to find him.

Bellevue Square security officials downplayed the incident, saying the man was drunk and that he asked for a ride, rather than demanding one.

They also said the man dropped the small steak knife used in the attack before getting into the car.

The kidnapper is described as a 40- to 45-year-old white man, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, with reddish brown hair. He was wearing a light colored t-shirt and tan shorts, police said.

The Bellevue Police Department is looking for anybody who may have seen the suspect in the parking garage or fleeing the area after the victim escaped. Any tips from the public should be directed to (425) 452-6917 or 911 after hours.
