Victim Identified, Cause Under Investigation In Puyallup Fires



PUYALLUP, Wash. —

One of two people who died in separate house fires in the South Hill area of Puyallup has been identified.

Fire Kills Woman In Her Puyallup Home

Investigators in the Pierce County Medical Examiner's office say Sandra Saunders, 56, died Monday morning of smoke inhalation.

Authorities have not released the identity of an 80-year-old man who relied on a wheelchair and died in the other fire Monday morning.

Fire Moves Too Fast For Man To Escape

In each case the cause remains under investigation, but the assistant chief of Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, Bryan Pearson, says there is no link between the two fires.
