SNOHOMISH, Wash. —
Friends and family of a 9-year-old boy who’s in a coma after he was rescued from the Pilchuck River prayed for him at a candlelight vigil Tuesday night.
His family said Travis Anderson is showing signs of improvement after he was pulled underwater in the cold current of the river for several minutes on Friday. His mother rescued him and performed CPR.
Travis' friends told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Gary Horcher that they're confident he'll recover.
"He's a really nice kid. He's really funny, and he would do a lot of things to make you laugh, and he's a really good sports player," said Derreck Fleischmann, a friend of Travis.
His friends told Horcher they have no doubt Travis will be running around with them.
"I wish he would heal soon and not have anything wrong with him," said Patrick McKenzie, another friend.
The family has started a Facebook campaign to ask people to pray for Travis.
They said they have heard from people all over the country, and that every little bit is making a difference.
