Vintage Cars Flipped Over, Vandalized

SEATTLE —

A group of vandals is targeting the Leschi and Mount Baker neighborhoods, destroying vintage cars by flipping them over, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Early Sunday morning, Carey Jackson watched as vandals destroyed his Saab, which he has owned for more than 19 years, longer than his 19-year-old son has been alive.

“You knew they were going to flip it over. You could tell all four guys were lifting the thing,” said Jackson.

“By the time I got down to the car, they were gone and the car was on its top. Gas was pouring out of it, and oil was pouring all over the side of the car,” he said.

Jackson said he saw four men rocking the car who appeared to be 18 to 20 years old, but said it was dark.

Jacob McDaniel's Karmann Ghia was also vandalized early Sunday morning.

"I think these were high school kids, out to do things like they do on Halloween night," said McDaniel.

With the damage to his car, now McDaniel must decide whether to try and repair the car or say goodbye.

“I would keep it if it's not too much of a problem. I hate to get rid of it, but I don't want to keep it, knowing it has a lot of work to be done," said McDaniel.

So far, police said there have been no arrests.
