Washington Sex Offenders Arrested In Nationwide Sting

SEATTLE —

Operation Falcon II, a nationwide sweep of fugitives, joined local and federal law enforcement to catch more than 1,100 fugitives across the nation.

In Washington state, 171 arrests were made, and 86 of them were sexual predators.

Law enforcement officers said of the 86 sexual predators arrested, many were homeless or had failed to register.

The number of fugitives arrested this year nearly triples the amount of fugitives apprehended in Operation Falcon I a year ago.

"As the sheriff, I'm very happy that we've got all these bad guys in jail. As a mom, I’m really happy we have 86 more sex offenders locked up behind bars, because at the end of the day, the thing that parents worry about most is their children," said King County Sheriff Sue Rahr.
