SEATTLE —
Using surveillance video, Seattle police have obtained a photo of a white pickup truck whose driver is wanted in connection with a hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian injured Tuesday morning.
The 18-year-old pedestrian was crossing Rainier Avenue South from west to east at East Elmgrove Street at about 7:15 a.m.when a northbound vehicle in the inside lane stopped to let him cross. A northbound vehicle in the outside lane struck the man and left the scene without stopping, police said.
The victim suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Harborview Medical Center, police said. A hospital spokeswoman said the victim is in satisfactory condition.
The pickup truck is white and an older model, police said, possibly a Chevy.
Witnesses described the driver as a white or Hispanic man, 35 to 45 years old, who is either bald or has very short hair.
Rainier Avenue was closed to traffic between Cloverdale and Kenyon, although buses were allowed through, police said in a tweet at about 8:30 a.m.
Anyone with information about the driver or the crash is asked to contact detective Mark Smithers at 206-684-8931 or at Mark.Smithers@Seattle.gov.
