Witness: I.D. Shootings Were Random



SEATTLE —

Seattle police are investigating an overnight drive-by shooting that sent two people to the hospital.

Witnesses told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the shootings, around 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Maynard Ave. S., appeared to be random.

A man who said he was a target was leaving an International District restaurant with two friends when the group saw a rifle barrel pointing from the window of an approaching car.

"This car pulled the corner. One of my friends got hit, hit the ground … started shooting at us," the man told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Reporter Jeff Dubois.

The man's friend was shot in the hip. Another bullet went through the restaurant's window and grazed a worker inside.

Both victims were taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Neighbors they've seen Seattle Police patrolling the area more in recent months trying to prevent violent crime in the International District.
