Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty For Keeping Dogs In Cramped Car

THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. —

A South Sound woman is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly beating her animals and forcing four dogs to live with her inside a vehicle stuffed with her belongings.

Suzanna Taylor appeared in court Wednesday and told a Thurston County judge that she’s not guilty of animal cruelty and inhumane treatment of her four dogs.

"She was living in her vehicle and the conditions of the vehicle were extremely cramped," said Erika Quinn of Thurston County Animal Services.

In court Taylor said, "No, that’s not true.”

Quinn said Animal Services rescued Taylor’s four dogs from inside her Chevy Blazer. The vehicle was so packed with items that the animals allegedly had little room to move or grow.

"It was found their muscles had atrophied because of their living conditions. They were thin and dehydrated," Quinn said.

Taylor is also accused of hitting her dogs, specifically a young lab and German Shepherd.

"Some woman came out and accused me of having a belt and hitting it and that is a lie," Taylor said.

All four of the dogs are now property of Thurston County Animal Services they are continuing their recovery and will be adopted out as soon as they are healthy enough.
