Woman Dies After Fremont Bridge Collision

SEATTLE —

A woman who was hurt in a collision on the Fremont Bridge Wednesday has died.

Police said the woman was driving northbound on the bridge at about 10:55 a.m. when she crossed into oncoming traffic. She clipped a mini-van and then crashed head-on into a cargo van, said Seattle police.

Medics performed CPR on the 40-year-old woman, who was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, said Dana Vander Houwen of the Seattle Fire Department. She later died of her injuries, police said.

A 48-year-old man with minor injuries was also taken to Harborview. A 28-year-old woman with minor injuries was taken to the University of Washington Medical Center.

Video from Chopper 7 showed a white SUV and a white van that collided head-on. There was no immediate word on what caused the crash.

Firefighters, medics and police were at the scene, and the police Accident Investigation Team was heading there.

An animal control officer took a shaken Jack Russell terrier from the scene.

All lanes of the bridge were reopened shortly after 3 p.m.
