Williams said the two victims had been staying at the home for five or six days. Their relationship with the homeowner is not known.
Police said there were two children, an infant and a toddler, sleeping inside the residence when the gunfire erupted. They were not hurt.
Officers said they don't yet know if there were one or two shooters or the circumstances that led up to the shooting. Detectives are conducting interviews with the people who returned home to find their guests shot.
