Woman Dies In Tacoma Double Shooting



TACOMA, Wash. —

A woman has died and a man was critically injured after they were shot multiple times at a duplex in Tacoma.

Detectives said people who live at the home in the 4700 block of East R Street returned to the duplex to find the man screaming, "I've been shot!" Both he and a woman had multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said they received a 911 call about the shooting at 4:07 a.m.

Tacoma Police Department Det. Thomas Williams told KIRO 7 the 29-year-old woman was shot in the chest and neck and the 23-year-old man suffered life-threatening wounds. The woman later died at Tacoma General Hospital.

Williams said the two victims had been staying at the home for five or six days. Their relationship with the homeowner is not known.

Police said there were two children, an infant and a toddler, sleeping inside the residence when the gunfire erupted. They were not hurt.

Officers said they don't yet know if there were one or two shooters or the circumstances that led up to the shooting. Detectives are conducting interviews with the people who returned home to find their guests shot.
