Woman Still Healing Following Disfiguring Pit Bull Attack

SEATAC, Wash. —

A 72-year-old SeaTac woman who was nearly killed by two pit bulls this summer is out of the hospital.

Houng Le said her face was the only part of her body that wasn't disfigured by the attack.

Both of Le's ears had to be re-attached, her jaw was broken and her arm was crushed. Le said her legs are still healing and covered with scars.

A man raised by Le, Eric John Makus, said the two pit bulls, named Rimshot and Big Guy, were lethal weapons that were on the loose when they attacked Le in her driveway.

"I believe that a breed ban, while it's unfair, it's unpopular and it's extreme -- I'll tell you it's effective, and in my opinion, it's absolutely necessary to protect public safety," said Makus.

Makus said that it's not enough that the dogs' owner is now charged with a felony. He wants lawmakers to make it illegal to own a pit bull.
