Woman Vents To Attacker In Craigslist Post

SEATTLE —

A woman who was beaten and robbed outside her lower Queen Anne apartment opens up about the attack and shares the interesting way she chose to go after her attacker.

KIRO7 Morning News Anchor Chris Egert spoke to Camille Willemain, who was attacked last month on lower Queen Anne.

Willemain had just gotten out of her car at about midnight and was heading to her apartment when she saw someone in the shadows.

"I got out, and I was walking, and I had my head down," said Willemain.

The man grabbed her, threw her down and kicked her, with some of the kicks connecting with her face.

"I don't think he was actually aiming for an area, I think he was kicking at me to get me to give up," said Willemain.

As quickly as it happened, the man was gone.

Police haven't had much to go on.

So she went on the web to avenge her attack with an ad on craigslist titled: "You kicked me in the face last night."

She wrote in part:

"I felt judgmental. I thought I should give you a chance. I was wrong."

"When I struggled you knocked me on the ground and I felt the wind escape me. The real kicker was when your foot met my face. Several times."

"I canceled my credit cards, and I don't carry cash. Have fun with my lip gloss and my $25 Trader Joe's gift card. I hope it was worth it."

As of Monday, she's received 60 responses from crime victims and others wanting to show support.

"So it was sort of my way of saying my piece to him, even though I know he's not going to read it," said Willemain. Read entire post.

She hopes others will be careful when walking in lower Queen Anne.

Willemain describes her attacker as a light-skinned black man, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a delicate build who may have been with a group of people in a mid-90s sedan with a lot of rust under the windows.
