7. Brian Banks gets Seahawks tryout

Brian Banks was a hotly recruited high school football player in the early 2000's, but lost everything when he pleaded no contest to a rape charge and was sent to prison. Banks spent nearly 5 1/2 years behind bars. His accuser later recanted her story and Banks was exonerated of the crime. This week, Banks was invited to try out with the Seattle Seahawks and was later given an invitation to Seahawks minicamp.

6. Glympse

Glympse is a location-based app that allows users to share their locations with friends in real-time via email. Once you've downloaded the app, you can locate yourself using your phone's GPS equipment and tell a friend (or friends) you're headed to see them. Only the people you email are able to see your location.

5. Lifeproof iPhone case

Jenni Hogan wears a lot of hats -- traffic anchor, mother, TV host and more -- which means there are too many opportunities for phone-related mishaps. To protect her social media lifeline, she turns to Lifeproof, which manufactures a case that can keep her phone safe from dirt, water, snow and accidental drops. Jenni even dunked her Lifeproof-encased phone in a bucket of water during the show and it came out without missing a beat.

4. CommonSenseMedia.org

We were talking family tech on Social7, and panelist Karen Moyer brought up this site, which is one of her favorites. CommonSense is currently running a campaign opposed to Facebook's plan to open itself to kids under 13 (as long as they're given parental supervision). The site features several resources for parents, kids and educators to learn more about staying safe online.

3. Viddy

If you know and love Instagram, you'll love Viddy, because it's essentially Instagram for videos. It's simple: Shoot a video, apply a filter to give your video a particular look and then post it to Viddy, where your friends and followers can view it. You can also automatically push your Viddy creations to Facebook and Twitter.

2. LinkedIn passwords leaked

LinkedIn was compromised this week, resulting in 6.5 million passwords posted online. An additional 1.5 million were leaked from the website eHarmony.com and posted online. The LinkedIn hack represented a fraction of the site's 161 million users, but many scrambled to change their passwords as a precaution.
