SEATTLE —

KIRO 7 would like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who was a part of the three-hour Mobile Tweetup with Jenni Hogan.

The Mobile Tweetup crew that included KIRO 7 Traffic Anchor Jenni Hogan as host, Seattle Insider Michael Fox working the camera, Brad Brotherton from Brotherton Cadillac as the driver and Chris Black from Band of Brothers Northwest, along with several other elf helpers, drove around the Pacific Northwest for three hours visiting Twitter friends to collect donations for Toys for Tots. The event was livestreamed on kirotv.com.

Also among Jenni's helpers was Samantha Paul of Kirkland, whose daughter Rachel was killed in an auto accident last summer.  The 9-year-old was raising money to provide clean water in Africa when she died, and now her mother is following her example by collecting toys for needy kids this holiday season.

Hogan and crew arrived back at the KIRO 7 Studios with four vans filled with more than 7,000 toys for kids.

The crew also came together to raise awareness for the cause. According to TweetReach, the hashtag #MobileTweetup had more than 1,500 tweets, reached nearly 700,000 people and produced more than 5 million impressions during the three-hour tweetup. Additionally, #MobileTweetup trended in the Seattle market for the entire three hours. The Twitter accounts @JenniHogan and @SeattleInsider also trended as they talked back and forth with Twitter friends while collecting toys.

KIRO 7 also teamed up with Band of Brothers NW to offer an online donation option, which is still open for donations until December 18th.

The Mobile Tweetup route covered most of the Puget Sound and included Seattle, Bellevue and Renton. The campaign received donations from numerous retailers, from artisans at the landmark Pike Place Market to the retail giant IKEA of Seattle, as well as Hotel Max, Uwajimaya, Hotel Bellevue, Olympic Physical Therapy, Clearwire, Ryan Swanson Law Group, Seattle Sun Tan, Creative Mom Toys, and Topics Entertainment.

Hogan and crew finished out the day by presenting the toys collected to the Toys for Tots Marine at Brotherton Cadillac in Renton, the final stop on the tweetup.

Along the route, several Twitter friends and special guests turned up to show their support. This included Super Bowl MVP quarterback Mark Rypien, Seattle Mist quarterback Angela Rypien, Red Russack of GeekWire.com, WARM 106.9's Tom McCarthy and Brooke Fox from MOViN 92.5.
