2 Local Rivers Flooding

SEATTLE —

High, murky waters were rising over the banks of the Snoqualmie River at midday Friday in one of the earliest fall floods in memory, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

The National Weather Service issued flood warnings for the Snoqualmie and Puyallup rivers following heavy rains Thursday.

Forecasters said runoff would drive the Snoqualmie River above flood stage at about 3 p.m. at Carnation.

Some farmland and low-lying roads from Fall City through Carnation and Duvall are flooded.

"It's pretty early for a flood," said John Sanford, who owns the Mount Si Golf Course.

Sanford said he has owned the golf course for nearly 20 years and this is the earliest he can ever remember the river flooding.

The Puyallup River reached flood stage at noon near Orting and was expected to recede Friday afternoon.
