70 Degrees By The Middle Of Next Week?

Seattle Thursday Forecast Hi: 50° Low: 40° (Temperatures still 5-15 degrees below average.)

Wind: SW 10-20 mph. Gusty around any thunderstorms that form.

Rain: Thursday afternoon showers with possible thunderstorms. Any thunderstorms may have small hail, heavy downpours and gusty wind. Best chance will be south of Seattle and along the coast.

Lowland Snow: Snow level is still low, around 1,500 feet. Heavy enough showers over the foothills may still be in the form of a rain/snow mix.

Mountain Snow: Not as heavy as Wednesday night. Snoqualmie Pass recorded 7 inches of new snow overnight. Another 1 to 3 inches over the Cascade passes is forecast Thursday.

Cloud Cover: Partly to Mostly Cloudy.

Significant Notes: Some lightning strikes were detected along the coast around 11:30 a.m. One strong storm popped up to the south of Sequim. It has since fizzled out.

Details: A cold low pressure system was spinning over Vancouver Island early afternoon Thursday. Through the afternoon, it is tracking directly over Western Washington, providing the proper dynamics for thunderstorm development. Everywhere around the Sound has the chance at seeing some storms pop up through the afternoon and into the early evening. This system pushes farther south Thursday night, drying us out as we go into Friday.

Friday is looking really dry around our area. Can’t discount a stray sprinkle, otherwise, partly sunny with temperatures in the mid- to low-50s. Same drill on Saturday with mainly dry weather. A chance shower will be in the forecast Saturday with temperatures in the mid-50s. Everybody stays dry on Sunday with a healthy helping of sunshine to go around. Temperatures rebound nicely back into the mid 60s. Much like last weekend, we’ll get one sunny day before showers move back in Monday.

Looking a week out, another warm up is expected for the middle of next week. We may hit 70 for the first time this year on Wednesday next week. Again, it’s far out, but it’s nice to end on a positive note.
