Cold, Dry Weather Remains; Burn Ban Issued For Pierce, Snohomish Counties

SEATTLE —

Despite the brilliant sunshine on Thursday, the high temperature only made it up to 36 degrees at Sea-Tac. With clear skies heading into Thursday evening, temperatures will be falling fast.

Overnight lows on Thursday will be in the teens and 20s. Seattle's forecast low is at 25, with Tacoma expected to drop to 16 degrees. Areas away from the water will be coldest with temperatures in the low teens.

There is the risk of some patchy freezing fog overnight which may cause some slick spots on the roads Friday morning.

We are going to be stuck in this cold dry pattern for the next several days.

With the air being so stagnant, a stage 1 burn ban is in effect for Pierce and Snohomish Counties. This is likely to hold through the upcoming weekend and may expand to other counties across Western Washington.

High temperatures will be running in the mid to upper 30s Friday and Saturday under mostly sunny skies.

Bundle up if you're heading outdoors to watch the fireworks on New Year's Eve -- temperatures will be around the freezing mark to ring in 2011. We will rebound into the mid to low 40s early next week with our next chance of rain coming on Wednesday.
