Flood Watches Increased To Flood Warnings In 3 Counties



SEATTLE —

Flood watches in three Western Washington counties were increased to flood warnings Wednesday night as rain continued to fall in the region.

Flood warnings were in effect for Whatcom, Skagit and Snohomish counties.

In Whatcom County, the National Weather Service said the south fork of the Nooksack River was overflowing its banks and flooding some roadways.

In Skagit County, the Skagit River was expected to rise above flood stage early this morning and cause minor flooding from Rockport to Sedro Woolley.

In Snohomish County, the south fork of the Stillaguamish River was expected to spill over its banks.

The King County Flood Warning Center reported Thursday morning that a Phase Three Flood Alert was posted for the Snoqualmie River, which will cause moderate flooding in lowland areas along the river as the day progresses. A Phase Four Flood Alert for major flooding was posted for the Tolt River near Carnation.
