Heavy Rain Over, But Flooding Still A Concern

SEATTLE —

This week's heavy rain has run its course in Western Washington, but flooding is still a concern.

The Snoqualmie River has crested but a flood warning remains in effect for parts of the river. The flood warning continues for the Snoqualmie river near Carnation until Saturday afternoon.

A flood warning is also in effect for the Snohomish River at Snohomish until late Saturday night.

A flood watch is in effect through Sunday afternoon for the Green River, the National Weather Service said. Water levels for the river at Auburn are just under flood stage and are expected to fluctuate near flood stage for the next several days.

A flood advisory is in effect for the Skokomish River near Potlatch in Mason County.

Avalanches in the mountains are also posing risks, as evidenced Thursday afternoon when a WSDOT worker clearing an avalanche from Highway 2 was partially buried by a second avalanche. The highway will remain closed until at least noon on Friday, WSDOT said.
