SEATTLE —
A high temperature of 87 broke a record in Hoquiam, but chances are dropping of other hot-weather records falling, said KIRO 7 Chief Meteorologist Rebecca Stevenson.
Hoquiam's previous record for Aug. 18 was 84 degrees, set in 1967. The record for the day at Sea-Tac was 88 degrees, also set in 1967, Stevenson said.
In Lewis County, reporter Richard Thompson saw bank signs showing 103 degrees. Stevenson said the official reading at the Chehalis-Centralia Airport was 91 degrees.
Stevenson said temperatures will drop and that they will be up to 10 degrees cooler on Thursday.
A strong marine push will occur Thursday night, bringing more clouds and cooler temperatures to the interior on Friday and Saturday.
